Angela Scott, a great supporter of WMODA, has donated her book collection on British ceramics to enhance our growing reference library. Angela has been an avid collector for many years and her early English teapots feature prominently in our Art of Tea exhibition. She is a huge fan of Wedgwood’s black basalt which was popular for teapot design in the 18th century. Black teapots showed off the milky whiteness of a lady’s hand as she poured the tea by candlelight. Now Angela has given WMODA an unusual black basalt object. Can you guess what it is?
