Luis Montanez, our WMODA facilities manager, has been fundraising again this holiday season to provide Christmas gifts for underserved youngsters in our community. With the money he raises, he buys toys for children of all ages, and this year, they were displayed around the museum’s Christmas trees decorated by Ken Evans. The Caring Place team collected half of them in their Hope Mobile, and the rest were distributed by Hernandez Bully Yard through Tone C and Friends 10th Annual Toy Drive.

The Caring Place has served the homeless and needy of South Florida for over 30 years and they provide hope to those who have lost hope. Mitch Haller, who collected the toys from WMODA this year explained that they now give festive cheer to over 600 families with their food and toy drives. They are busy all year round with their Heart for the Homeless and Pack the Pantry campaigns and celebrate Valentine’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas with major events to help homeless and impoverished individuals. They provide food, clothing and shelter, as well as compassionate gifts for each season.
