Art Deco

Exposition Internationale Arts Decoratifs held in Paris in 1925 gave its name to the Art Deco design movement. The style is characterized by a streamlined geometric aesthetic with bold colors and luxurious materials. Look for all the flappers, vamps and divas of the Roaring Twenties in the Art Deco gallery at WMODA.

The Art Deco Society of the Palm Beaches has invited Louise Irvine to talk about the Art Deco treasures at WMODA as part of their Art Deco Afternoons lecture series.  Louise’s talk is on Thursday, February 13 from 2 to 4 pm and will be held at the Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches to celebrate the Centennial of the Art Deco movement. Stoke 100

In 1925, Stoke-on-Trent gained city status from His Majesty King George V in recognition of the contributions to the pottery industry by six towns – Stoke, Burslem, Tunstall, Hanley, Fenton and Longton.
