A Trunk Full of Gifts

By Louise Irvine

The Great Elephant Migration has moved on from Miami Beach, but you can still discover more about the gentle giants of the animal kingdom at WMODA. Our new Elephant Safari exhibition features 100 ceramic elephants from the museum’s collection, along with vibrant pillows, table linens, and wallpapers by the Ardmore Design Studio in South Africa. Our preview guests in December purchased a trunk full of Ardmore holiday gifts with safari flair.

The Great Elephant Migration

The spectacle of 100 elephant sculptures on Miami Beach was much appreciated by the public during Miami Art Week. Crowds flocked to the art installation each day and it was fun to watch the little kids interacting with the life-size lantana wood elephants made by Indian artisans. The next stop for this global fund-raising adventure is in Hermann Park in Houston, Texas in April.

Meet the Herd at WMODA

The WMODA herd includes pottery and porcelain elephants from the 1800s to the present day, including famous elephants from Jumbo to Dumbo. Realistic sculptures of African and Indian elephants by Royal Doulton and Boehm mingle with whimsical designs by Ardmore Ceramics in South Africa. Elephants are also portrayed on vibrant tablecloths, tea towels, pillows and wallpapers which can be purchased in the Ardmore Design Shop at WMODA.
