Art Deco Centennial Celebration

The Paris World’s Fair in 1925 gave its name to the Art Deco style, which was influenced by the aerodynamic designs of ships, trains and automobiles. Ceramic artists such as Clarice Cliff introduced vibrant vases decorated with colorful geometric motifs. Porcelain statuettes portrayed alluring women in the flapper fashions of the Roaring Twenties. The 1930s was the “Golden Age of Hollywood,” and sensual pin-up photos of the stars inspired vamps and divas by celebrated porcelain companies, including Royal Doulton, Goldscheider and Rosenthal.
