WMODA relies heavily on volunteers for the efficient daily running of the museum. Volunteering contributes to personal and professional development as well as many new relationships. The positive energy of philanthropic efforts supports everyone.

There are opportunities to train as a docent with Kimberly Sheridan, our Visitor Services Manager. We are particularly grateful to our longest-serving volunteer docent Jan Feinglass, who gives tours of WMODA on a weekly basis.

Volunteer staff undertake many behind-the-scenes administrative tasks to maintain the collection and reference library, such as cataloging, data management and photography. Lori Brown, George Hawthorn, Brian Spillane, and Mike Brodie have helped us enormously with our Collections Management program.

Volunteers are also needed to greet guests and assist at the WMODA reception and shop, particularly during our special evening and weekend events. Robert Kerr has done an amazing job with our shop display and merchandising and Veronica Alvarado, who established our shop, returns regularly to volunteer at events, along with our oldest volunteer Helna Anestaides who is 89 years young.

Many High school students have helped at WMODA to gain their community service hours. Alisa Melchanova has volunteered an astounding 400 hours and still counting! WMODA also welcomes interns, who are studying art, design, humanities and social history. Michelle Sammartino, Darleen Smith and Lanie Coan have made significant contributions to our exhibition program.

Local artists have generously donated their time and talents to teach others their skills at WMODA workshops, notably Chelsea Rousso, Anne Orvieto, Lori Brown, Laurence Panadero, Matteo Montagner, and Lloyd Goradesky.
