Fused Glass Workshop at WMODA

with Chelsea Rousso

Make our own glass art

Working with glass is great fun and Chelsea is a great teacher. She is a Professor of Fashion at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and an entertaining writer on fashion trends. Chelsea fuses her interests in fashion and glass with her wearable collection of glass corsets and bikini tops, which have been modeled at several WMODA events.  A selection of Chelsea’s stunning fused glass sculpture is currently on display in our Chihuly gallery.

At her workshop on February 11th, Chelsea taught students how to make a fused and slumped glass plate. A similar workshop was held at the ICGF last year and was a huge success. Nobody had previous experience and the creativity of the class was remarkable.  About a week after the workshop, their fired works of art were ready to take home. Two of Chelsea’s talented students, Lori Brown and Anne Orvieto, were helping at the class and exhibiting their work at WMODA during the Touch of Glass events.
